High ResolutionMahowish as far West as possible on his Bonneville. He began in New York, worked in Yellowstone, and drove through the deserts all to see me and eat some Cotijas.

High ResolutionThere is something about this shot that I love. It was taken over a year ago while a friend of mine was recording a few songs at a studio in Buffalo, NY.

North Park hosts the Ray at Night Art Walk the second weekend of every month where many businesses, galleries and studios open their doors to the public to display work. The Salon often uses this opportunity to showcase their stylists, local quinine and art. This particular night was Disco night, big hair and vintage fashion was key.

High ResolutionI’m guessing this is in Kansas. If that’s the case, we had been on the road since about 11am that day after waking up in my Civic under a comforter in a truckstop parking lot. We parked at 5am expecting to sleep for only a few hours before we hit the road again to catch up on time we lost but apparently our bodies had other plans. We woke up around lunch time to families and truckers walking past our car on a freezing, overcast afternoon. My comforter kept us warm, I think it was about 5 degrees that day.

High ResolutionI’ve been doing some work with a high-end glass blower in San Diego who is starting to brand his company and push his work out to the public. My first session was spent photographing ridiculously nice water pipes that looked more like Tesla experiments than smoking apparatuses while our next meeting was at the workshop to get some images of him at work.

High ResolutionI haven’t been posting a lot but I hope to change that. Here is an image of Dave W getting tattooed by our friend, Matt Evans, out in Fort Collins, CO. I had flown home for the holidays to visit friends and family then drive my car out to California. Dave came with me on this trying journey and has a beastly memento to remember it by.
I had seen a lot of important people during my short visit home, but seeing Dave was different since we last saw each other 2 years ago. I lived with this fucker, we drank together, he taught me how to roll cigarettes, we raged out to music together, we talked about the future and stumbled home together. We inspired each other. After graduation we went our separate ways and then here we were with nothing to do but drive for hours, talk about the in-between times and figure out my car problems. Our reunion and departure wasn’t like the others I had seen. His life had only grown more interesting since 2009, moving to Brooklyn and working in TV/Film. More importantly there were no awkward goodbyes, only excitement for the times ahead.

High ResolutionAfter finding out our bus wasn’t coming for another 2 hours I noticed a SUNDAY sticker on this guys bmx bike. I had to ask him about it and he was in fact riding sunday handlebars. I told him I was from Buffalo, yadda yadda yadda, I made a quick friend and we were able to talk about a lot of the things bothering us these past few weeks. It was interesting to see what a native San Diegan had to say about his city.

High ResolutionMel approached me at the Fashion Valley Transit Center requesting that I take his photograph. He is also new to the city, we shared stories about our first few months in San Diego then I parted ways with this kind soul.

High ResolutionIsn’t this the appropriate day to post a photo of yourself? I took a photo of a woman at the beach and then we switched spots. Her picture was much better than mine. I questioned myself for a good 55 seconds after seeing this.
Yeah, I’m still wearing that.

High ResolutionTonight, Twin Shadow played a sold out show at The Casbah in San Diego. Of course we didn’t buy tickets ahead of time, but thanks to the wonders of social media all of us were able to get in for free. Because of Ben’s tweets focusing on the lack of tickets, Mr. Shadow himself came out to meet us and then put us on the guest list. We had a great night thanks to the Shadow with his music as the soundtrack.
